Walk gates, double drive gates and driveway entrances
The gate is the part of a fence that moves, so it is the part that fails. A gate is not a panel with hinges on it — it needs a diagonal brace running the right way, a post set deeper and heavier than the line posts either side, and hinges rated for the weight it will actually carry. We build and hang gates in every material we fence in, and we re-hang plenty of gates other people built.
Our Process
Measure the Opening
We measure the opening, check the swing, and work out whether it wants one leaf or two.
Set the Gate Post
The gate post goes in heavier and deeper than the line posts, because it carries a moving load all day.
Build & Brace
The frame is built square and braced diagonally from the bottom hinge corner up — the brace that stops it sagging.
Hang & Adjust
Hinges through-bolted, gate hung, latch aligned and the swing adjusted until it closes on its own weight.
